The committee of Egginton Primary School PTA would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to parents, families and friends of our new pupils.

As parents you automatically become members of the PTA, this is not as daunting as it sounds! We hope this information sheet will clarify the role of the PTA and highlight ways in which parents can become involved, if they wish. Please take time to read it, members of the committee will be pleased to answer any further questions you may have. Thank you.

 

What is the role of the PTA?

We organise and run fund-raising events to provide financial support for the school, enabling the purchase of equipment, resources and subsidising trips. We support the school with social events and activities for the children. We aim to forge closer links between school, home and the local community, with a common goal of enhancing the children’s educational and social experience.

 

Committee

Our committee consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and a number of elected members. Elections to these roles are held at our AGM in September. A list of current committee members is available in the School Office. We meet monthly to discuss and plan events, review financial incomings and outgoings, and consider any other issues. These are informal, evening meetings, usually held at School They are advertised in the school newsletter or on a notice board and all parents are welcome.

 

How we raise money

Ongoing fund-raisers include: School Link (periodically you will receive a book catalogue in your child’s book bag), Bonus Ball (you have to be in it to win it! You will be invited to choose a ball), easyfundraising.org (we can make money from your internet shopping). Annual events: Bonfire Night fireworks display, Shrove Tuesday soup and pancakes Miscellaneous fundraisers: fashion shows, quiz nights, fun days, bags2school, Rainbow Day.

 

Not all Fundraising!

We support the teaching staff with events such as the Christmas Concert, Christmas party, sports day etc. We’ve organised school discos. We’ve even redesigned and planted the school garden!
